According to the Overseas Private Investment Corporation and United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, Africa offers the highest return on direct foreign investment in the world. Its large population and rapid urbanisation offer huge opportunities to investors. The continent has the potential to double its manufacturing output from US$500 billion in 2016 to $930 billion in 2025.
But, investing in Africa remains plagued by uncertainty. Risks include political and social instability, lack of infrastructure and skilled labour, as well as also regulatory barriers. Mitigate these risks and uncertainty, and reward is obtainable!
Afriwise makes its contribution to unlocking Africa’s enormous potential by removing the barrier of legal uncertainty. Our vision is to make African law simple by making local legal knowledge and expertise available to companies active in Africa.
The Afriwise platform today covers: Kenya, Nigeria, South Africa, Tanzania, Zimbabwe, Rwanda, Uganda and Angola. In each of these countries, we work with the top local law firms to source legal knowledge. If you want to have a look at all our contributors, click here.
We are working hard to cover more countries each month. In our country rollout plan, the focus in the coming months lies on the following countries:
- The Democratic Republic of Congo and Zambia (by end 2019)
- Mauritius and Mozambique (first quarter of 2019)
- Botswana, Ethiopia and Ghana (first half of 2019)
- Ivory Coast and Senegal
